Dear AudioVerse Friend,

With war breaking out in Ukraine, our hearts are broken, and our prayers are poured out for the people suffering there. What you may not know is that AudioVerse has a connection to that country through several close ministry partners.

DeepVision is a software development company run by a group of talented, dynamic, and committed Seventh-day Adventist young people who helped us build the entire content management system for the AudioVerse platform. Our professional relationship has turned into friendship, as often happens when serving together in the Lord’s work, and we remain in steadfast prayer for their safety.

As of last Sabbath, when we last spoke, most of the team had evacuated to the safer western part of Ukraine while their CEO, Alexander and his family remained in the eastern portion of the country and were preparing to flee at any time.

Separately, our friend Alexey Ostapenco has been the voice of the content on the AudioVerse Russian site. He serves as a leader of the Our Home Lifestyle Center in Novi Obikhody, Ukraine, but also works with us in translating English content into Russian in his free time. He and his family are safe as well, but the Our Home Lifestyle Center has become a refuge for many people fleeing from around the country. The following is an update and appeal from Alexey in his own words:

Thankfully, Our Home is not in the way of major military developments. The worst situation is in Northern, Eastern and Southern Ukraine. Russian troops are trying to storm Kyiv, the capital and at the same time they are shelling military infrastructure all over Ukraine.

At this time Our Home cannot operate as a health center, but we get lots of requests for shelter from our former patients from Kyiv and other cities. We also welcomed workers of Aidar health center which escaped major military conflict at their location. Dr. Anna, director of Our Home, keeps receiving calls from people asking to shelter their elderly, children and women.

In view of the situation there is a financial need to help feed the people and pay for utilities. Our Home has been struggling financially for years because of the conflict and recently because of COVID-19. We’ve had but a few patients last winter and we’ve been barely making it from month to month. We can’t refuse people who need shelter and at the same time we need financial help to be able to deliver help to those who suffer more today.
